In the words of the artist, “This piece is very personal to me, as I began painting it when I was a teenager fifteen years ago, and it was one of the first pieces that I began as an artist. I only recently completed it this year during my time recuperating from a traumatic brain injury. The use of purple as the base color is prominent in the trees and in the glistening in the grass, as a way of highlighting shadows as a storm approached. I created this as a mixed media piece in order to make the storm, the trees, and the elements of nature come to life for the viewer.

“The coming together of the various elements, including the time it took to complete, the approaching storm that is shown, and the brain injury that I am still recovering from while completing it symbolizes the triumph and perseverance of the indomitable human spirit.”

Profits from this project will go towards buying new equipment and supplies to launch a bold new series of works.
