Old Person (OP): Okay, so this isn’t that difficult. All you have to do is take the two quarters and add them together. Do you know how much a quarter is worth? ONE quarter is worth 25. So if you have TWO quarters…how much is that?

Young Person (YP): ……..

OP: Okay, let’s look at it this way. What’s 25 + 25? It’s 50, right? So what’s 25 CENTS + 25 CENTS?

YP: …….

OP: sighs Okay. I’ll give you this one. It’s 50 cents. Alright let’s try this: you have TWO pennies. One penny is worth ONE cent. So how much is it if you have TWO pennies? ONE cent + ONE cent is what?

YP: blank stare

OP: What do they even teach your generation now-a-days? None of you have basic life knowledge.
