Los Angeles Heart Flag
This flag design was proposed by Ricardo Tomasz. It is designed to incorporate the existing city flag colors, while reimagining them with a more streamlined design. The yellow, which traditionally represented orange groves, now represents a vibrant sky during sunset over a green field of olive trees. The red heart is meant to represent the Los Angeles values of inclusiveness, empathy, and standing up for those who are underprivileged, exploited, or oppressed in society.
The LAPD states on its website: The Los Angeles Police Department is committed to serving the community while protecting the rights of all persons. Consistent with this commitment, the Department’s Vision, Mission and Core Values, in concert with the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics and the Department’s Management Principles, reflect the guiding philosophy of the Los Angeles Police Department.
