What is TED? TED stands for Technology, Education, Design; and it will rock your socks off. Each year, TED hosts some of the world’s most fascinating people: Trusted voices and convention-breaking mavericks, icons and geniuses. The talks they deliver have had had such a great impact, we thought they deserved a wider audience. Each week, they release a new talk, both on YouTube, and their website.

Associated Press

For the average News Junkie, now you can view the most updated, up to the minute stories on the web, in bite-size donut-hole format. Often in the top 100 most viewed channels, the Associated Press organization has been around since 1846, but they launched their YouTube Channel on September 18, 2006. This is a great opportunity to stay as up to date with the world’s events as the major broadcasters.

One of the primary goals of FORA.tv is to foster discussion and debate on issues relevant to our time. FORA.tv is the world’s first on-demand, interactive fully searchable media portal delivering spoken words from the world’s great writers, leaders, activists and thinkers. FORA community members can experience content via its immersive website with synchronized transcripts, chapters and user generated posts and content.

Yale Courses on YouTube

Old institutions are catching up to the modern media giants.  Ivy league schools like Yale have begun publishing their videos to YouTube in the hopes of maximum dissemination of knowledge, with no goals or agenda about how that knowledge will be used.  The YouTube channel and its altruistic expectations publishes full lectures, as well as bite-sized snippets as a way of opening up the university to all who are interested.  Complementary syllabi, transcripts, and other resources may also be accessed from the Open Yale Courses website, so that we may all be part of the global education community.

NASA

Yes, even NASA has a strong YouTube page that bolsters science education in all realms.  The organizations space exploration, scientific discovery, and aeronautics research, and is an amazing open source knowledge of information for teachers, and anyone interested in increasing their understanding of the universe.  Subscribe to stay up to date with new NASA missions, as well as discoveries in the scientific community.
