As a member of the Hollywood community, and as a Jew, I never thought I would be writing these words, but we need to Blacklist MAGA Trump supporters from Hollywood.

For those unaware, the Hollywood blacklist was the colloquial term for what was in actuality a broader entertainment industry blacklist put in effect in the mid-20th century in the United States during the early years of the Cold War. The blacklist involved the practice of denying employment to entertainment industry professionals believed to be or to have been Communists or sympathizers. Not just actors, but screenwriters, directors, musicians, and other American entertainment professionals were barred from work by the studios. This was usually done on the basis of their membership, alleged membership in, or even just sympathy with the Communist Party USA, or on the basis of their refusal to assist Congressional investigations into the party’s activities.

It quickly and directly damaged or ended the careers and income of scores of individuals working in the film industry.

However, here is why the MAGA blacklist needs to happen; while the Hollywood blacklist was based on hypothetical harm (financial or propaganda support towards the USSR), the MAGA terrorists have actually committed the highest crimes this country has to commit, including insurrection, sedition, murder, and hate crimes.

Children have literally died in MAGA supported concentration camps at the US/Mexico border, and MAGA supporters within the Hollywood community have cheered it on.

As we celebrate a return to Democratic norms with our rightfully elected President and Vice-President, our hearts should anticipate a long peace—and our minds should be free from the heavy weight that comes with war. But this is not such a period—for this is not a period of peace. This is a time of civil unrest. This is a time when our great nation is split into two vast, increasingly hostile camps.

Today we can almost physically hear the mutterings and rumblings of an invigorated god of war. You can see it, feel it, and hear it all the way from the corrupt halls Tallahassee state government, to the armed militia camps of the midwest.

The one encouraging thing is that the “mad moment” has not yet arrived for the firing of the gun or the exploding of the bomb which will set our democracy about the final task of destroying itself. There is still a hope for peace if we finally decide that no longer can we safely blind our eyes and close our ears to those facts which are shaping up more and more clearly; and that is that we are now engaged in a show-down fight. Not the usual war between nations for land areas or other material gains, but a war between two diametrically opposed ideologies.

The great difference between the violent Christian-Nationalist America and the peaceful secularist America is not political, it is moral. For instance, the MAGA idea of packing the courts and disrespecting the dead, in order to place this country on the tumultuous ruin of Conservatism. Likewise, the MAGA notion of violence over debate was decried by Lincoln himself, “Your purpose, then, plainly stated, is that you will destroy the Government, unless you be allowed to construe and enforce the Constitution as you please, on all points in dispute between you and us. You will rule or ruin in all events.”

Trump’s resolute putting across of these two ideas, of course, did much to divide the nation.

Trump, Cruz, and Hawley are all cheap demagogues expensive suits.

Today we are engaged in a final, all-out battle between violent Christian-Nationalism and peaceful secularism. The modern champions of Trumpism have selected this as the time.

Lest there be any doubt that the time has been chosen, let us go directly to Trump and the MAGA violence perpetuated…

Can there be anyone who is so blind as to say that the war is not on? Can there by anyone who fails to realize that the Conservative world has said the time is now? That this is the time for the show-down between the Christian-Nationalist America and the peaceful secularist America?

Unless we face this fact, we shall pay the price that must be paid by those who wait too long.

In four years, Trump used celebrity personalities to endorse his murderous regime, that killed men, women, and children. This included people like Kanye West, Kid Rock, Jon Voight, James Woods, and others.

The reason why we find ourselves in a position of such hate and violence is because of these people, who supported Trumpism and the MAGA cult over their country. It is the traitorous actions of those who have been treated so well by this Nation, and the Hollywood community. It is those who have had all the benefits that the wealthiest Nation on earth has had to offer, wealthy because of liberal and progressive policies, like the New Deal, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and public education. The finest homes, the finest college education and the finest jobs in entertainment we can give.

This is glaringly true in the Hollywood press machine. There the bright stars who are born with silver spoons in their mouths are the ones who have been most traitorous.

We have seen on Twitter, YouTube, and even National television those known to have supported the violent extremists of the MAGA cult, and who nevertheless are still working and earning wealthy incomes in the Hollywood community.

The attack on the capitol on January 6th has lit the spark which is resulting in a moral uprising and will end only when the whole sorry mess of twisted, warped thinkers are swept from the national scene so that we may have a new birth of truth, justice, and the American way.
